So Pale

from So Pale by Segrasso

lyrics

Things unread and things unsaid,
I try to keep them in my head.
I wasn't talking to you, but I think it isn't true.
I spent so long on the subject, it's better to shut up,
Keep a filter in your brain:
That way when you talk to people who sound the same,
You will want to die.
Well, so do I.

Sorry that I missed your birthday,
I was having trouble moving,
I was sitting in my room,
Watching old cartoons.
It would've been worse if I was there,
I promise you.
I'd've hated everyone,
Spent the night in the corner drinking tea and rum.
It's a horrible drink -
Even worse than you think.

Well there's no need to talk that way,
If you don't want to go, you just had to say.
But how does it feel, now that you're on the outside?

You'll never be good enough.

I tried so hard to build a tower,
I tried until my heart turned sour,
And the roof was caving in, it broke under my sins,
It looked like a mountain collapsing into the red.
I looked like I was sick,
I spent twenty-two years indoors and I never saw the sun.
That's how I got so pale.
I've gone stale.

Well there's no need to talk that way,
If you don't want to go, you just had to say.
But how does it feel, now that you're all on your own?

You'll never be good enough.
